Alarms keep Police busy in city

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of August 1 to 7: * On August 7, a witness to a vehicle rollover attended the Weyburn Police Station. Police found two males swimming across the river who matched the descriptions of the suspects.

* On August 7, a witness to a vehicle rollover attended the Weyburn Police Station. Police found two males swimming across the river who matched the descriptions of the suspects. The driver was arrested and he was charged with impaired driving, driving while over .08 and failing to report an accident. The passenger from the accident was treated at the hospital and released.

* On August 6, a vehicle had a rock thrown through the windshield.

* During the heavy rainfall in the evening of August 6, police assisted the Weyburn fire department by doing traffic control at a house fire.

* Police responded to a residence on August 6, when the homeowner found an unknown male sleeping on his couch. The male had broken into the residence and passed out on the couch. He was charged with break, enter and mischief.

* On August 5, a semi tractor unit hit a cement planter in the downtown area. The driver of the truck was found in the vehicle. He was arrested and subsequently charged with care and control while impaired and refusing to provide a breath sample.

* Police made a routine traffic stop on August 6. The driver of the vehicle was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08 upon his release.

* On August 4, a BC man reported that he was trying to locate his missing 18-year-old daughter, who had made a call from Weyburn. Police assisted by doing checks at local businesses although she could not be located. However, the man called back and stated that he'd spoken to her and she was no longer in Weyburn.

* Police removed an intoxicated man from a local motel on August 4 and advised him to leave the premises.

* Also on August 4, a youth was removed from a residence at the homeowner's request. He was lodged in cells and charged with breaching conditions.

* On August 3, three plots were destroyed at the Community Gardens. Beer cans, garbage and plants were found strewn on the ground.

* On August 2, two people were told not to have any contact with each other when a complaint of harassing text and Facebook messages were made to police.

* On August 1, police attended a residence regarding vandalism with obscene messages being spray painted on the lawn and fence.

Police attended four commercial and seven residential alarms during the week.

During the past week Weyburn City Police received 97 requests for assistance.
