Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of July 28 to August 3: *On August 3, police received multiple calls about a vehicle with no plates driving with excessive speed on 18th Street.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of July 28 to August 3:

*On August 3, police received multiple calls about a vehicle with no plates driving with excessive speed on 18th Street. The vehicle was located and a 23-year-old male was charged with driving while disqualified/prohibited, operating an unregistered vehicle and driving in a manner likely to distract, startle or interfere with other drivers.

*Police received a report that a 24-year-old male was punched in the face by a 31-year old-male. The investigation resulted in the older male being charged under the Criminal Code with assault causing bodily harm. In addition, this male had an outstanding warrant from which was executed.

*On August 2, police attended to the downtown area after receiving a call of a person in need of assistance. A male was found lying on the side walk. A 51-year-old male resident was found to be intoxicated and was arrested and held in police cells until he sobered.

*Police attended to the exhibition grounds after receiving a call about an erratic driver. A 17-year-old female was found to be the driver and charged under the Traffic Safety Act with driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a valid class of license, driving in a manner likely to distract, startle or interfere with other drivers and driving without due care and attentions.

*On July 31, police attended to the 7-11 in regard to a call of an armed robbery. Police learned that a lone male had entered the store wearing a disguise. The suspect's face was covered and he was brandishing a large knife. The male demanded money from the female employee and then fled the store on foot with money from the till. An area check for the suspect was unsuccessful, though a broadcast to other police agencies advising of the incident was made.

A few hours later, a similar incident occurred in Estevan, Saskatchewan. Estevan Police Service conducted an investigation that lead to the arrest of a 19-year-old male of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The male was charged under the Criminal Code for two counts of robbery with a weapon, and two counts of being disguised with committing an indictable offense. The male appeared in Estevan Provincial Court where he plead guilty for two counts of robbery with a weapon. He was sentenced to the Federal Penitentiary jail for a period of two years.

*On July 29, police were called to a domestic dispute between a 37-year-old female and a 42-year-old male. While at the residence, the male kicked one of the police officers and came toward the officer with a large sheathed hunting knife. The male dropped the knife and was arrested without further incident. He was transported to Weyburn Police Service and charged under the Criminal Code with assault causing bodily harm of the 37-year-old female, and with assaulting a police officer. The suspect will appear in court in August.

*On July 28, a resident reported that his riding lawn mower, white in color with a Briggs and Stratton engine, was stolen from his yard. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Weyburn Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
