Assiniboia RCMP responds to suspicious fire

ASSINIBOIA - The Assiniboia RCMP and Assiniboia Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a vehicle and structure fire at a convenience store located on the 300 block of First Avenue East in Assiniboia on May 31, at approximately 3:00 a.m.

Assiniboia Fire and Rescue successfully extinguished the fire. There were occupants inside the structure at the time of the fire but no injuries were reported to police resulting from the incident. The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency later responded as well to examine the scene.

At this time, the cause of the fire is believed to be suspicious in nature.

Officers from the Assiniboia RCMP continue to investigate with assistance from the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.
