Assiniboia RCMP seeks assistance in identifying individuals in suspicious persons investigation

ASSINIBOIA -The Assiniboia RCMP are aware of a social media post in which it was alleged there was a second incident involving the suspicious individuals from the release issued on September 2 (included below). It was alleged that they attended a residence on Empire Road in the town of Assiniboia and attempted to lure children from the residence. 

As a result of investigation into the alleged second incident, Assiniboia RCMP officers were able to determine that the social media post was false and the incident did not occur. 

Officers continue to investigate the matter detailed in the release issued on September 2. 

If any further information is learned, or any further incidents are reported, the Assiniboia RCMP will share what information they can as it becomes available.

On August 31, 2021 at approximately 5:00 p.m., Assiniboia RCMP received a complaint that there were suspicious individuals outside of a residence in a mobile home community in the town of Assiniboia.

The complainant reported a male approached a residence and attempted to obtain personal information and money from two children, who were inside. The male left, but then returned with two other males and attempted to lure the children from the residence. 

The children refused and the three individuals fled on foot in an unspecified direction on Leeville Street.

The male that originally approached the residence was described as having brown hair. He was wearing a black pullover pocketed sweatshirt and black dress pants. He had an unspecified tattoo on his lower forearm and had a large red blemish on his neck. 

The two males that returned with him were reported to be wearing black pullover sweatshirts, black pants and black ball caps. One of the men’s sweatshirts had ‘Zoo York’ written on it in black lettering.

A black vehicle with an unknown Alberta license plate was also reported in the area at the time. 

The Assiniboia RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying any of the individuals or vehicle described above.
