This 800 pound bell cast in 1913 will be hoisted and rang at noon 100 years later in celebration of Weyburn's Centennial year.

In celebration of Weyburn's Centennial year, a bell that stood atop the old post office building, now Liberty Manor, will be rung by Mayor Debra Button at noon on Friday, September 13.

Former Weyburn Mayor, Isabelle Butters says arrangements have been made to have an old fashioned fire truck from Heritage Village moved onto the vacant lot on 2nd Street across from City Centre Mall where the bell will be loaded, hoisted and rung at 12 p.m.

"We are planning a barbeque for this occasion," said Butters.

The bell was cast in 1913 by John Taylor and Company of England who had received a contract for public clocks in municipal buildings, and sent out in a batch of six to various locations in the provinces of Quebec, Ontario, Nova Scotia in addition to the one received here in Weyburn.
