When the Estevan Police Service (EPS) received a report of a bomb threat coming from the Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) on Nov. 7, they immediately launched an investigation along with the teachers and the EPS school resource officer. The quick response led them to an immediate identification of an 18-year-old male who was quickly apprehended by police and charged with mischief and breaching the conditions of a probation order.

Due to the expediency of the investigation and quick apprehension of the suspect, an evacuation of the school was not deemed necessary, and classroom routines were not interrupted as a result of the incident.

The man who has been charged now has an early December court date.

Earlier in the week, a report of a male intruder peeking into windows of residences on the north side of the city, led to some policing action by members of the EPS on Nov. 5.

The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival, but the matter remains under active investigation.

EPS members served as mediators in a dispute regarding two neighbours on Nov. 5. The matter was resolved with police assistance, and no further action was required.

A routine traffic stop led to one person being charged with impaired driving and driving while his blood-alcohol level was above .08 per cent. The driver now has a scheduled court date.

EPS members responded to a RID (Report Impaired Drivers) call on the night of Nov. 8 regarding a possible impaired driver on the city's west side. Police located the vehicle and arrested a 37-year-old Estevan woman who was subsequently charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08. She has a December court date.

An Ontario man was also arrested for impaired driving and driving while over .08 that same evening. He too now has a December courtroom date scheduled.

Another RID call was handled by police on Nov. 9. The caller informed police of a possible impaired driver on the highway entering the city. Sometime later in the evening the suspect's vehicle was located parked at a local lounge in the city so police maintained a surveillance of the vehicle and observed it leaving the establishment later that night. A 43-year-old Estevan man was arrested for impaired driving and driving while over .08 and will appear in court in December.
