The much anticipated opening of Weyburn's Boston Pizza became official this week.Publiclyopening its doors on March 14, the restauranthosted a grand opening on March 11, which included speeches by dignitaries and a ribbon cutting.
"Boston Pizza is a proven Canadian restaurant franchise that features a diverse menu that guests love," said franchisee and general manager Garth Hilts. "As the first casual dining and sports bar concept in the area, we look forward to serving great food and providing great service to local residents, while creating a fun and inviting atmosphere that everyone can enjoy."
Boston Pizza Weyburn is owned by Jim Werschler, Gregg Most and Garth Hilts and is the first Boston Pizza franchise for all of the new owners.
As part of the restaurant's grand opening celebrations, Boston Pizza Weyburn donated all server tips from its three-day dress rehearsals to Weyburn's Multiple Sclerosis Society chapter, totalling $2,285.
Boston Pizza is contributing to the community in another way, according to Hilts; the restaurant currently has 99 employees, with 15 employees and their families having moved to Weyburn from another location.
"I wouldn't be surprised if we have brought 40 to 50 people to the Weyburn area," said Hilts.
Boston Pizza Weyburn features the chains' new contemporary interior and exterior design, with seating for 150 people in the dining room and another 42 guests in the sports bar.In addition, the restaurant features a 78-seat patio for summertime dining.
Weyburn's restaurant is the 15th Boston Pizza in Saskatchewan to-date.Boston Pizza International (BPI) Inc. has more than 340 restaurants in Canada. Annually, Boston Pizza serves more than 40 million guests. BPI is located in Richmond, BC and has regional offices in Mississauga, ON and Laval, QB.
