Cadets to celebrate 64th year

Seventeen members of 2302 Weyburn Legion Cadet Corps will celebrate their 64th anniversary on Tuesday, May 31 at their home, The Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Weyburn.

Seventeen members of 2302 Weyburn Legion Cadet Corps will celebrate their 64th anniversary on Tuesday, May 31 at their home, The Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Weyburn. The Reviewing Officer for the parade will be Honorary Colonel Ken Garbutt, CD of the 16th Saskatchewan Service Battalion and vice-president for Saskatchewan on the National Council of the Army Cadet League of Canada. The Cadet Corps is led by Commanding Officer Captain Herbert H. Bechdoldt, CD who is assisted by various dedicated training staff. The cadet parade commander will be Cadet Warrant Officer Brian Fenwick of Weyburn.

The event will include dynamic and static displays that show the cadet's involvement in Corps, summer training, marksmanship, and general cadet training.This annual review all but completes the cadets local training year for the Corps. Various medals, trophies and awards are expected to be presented to the most proficient cadets.The Weyburn Legion Cadet Corps meets every Tuesday evening from 6:45 to 9:30 p.m. at the Weyburn Legion Hall. Young people 12 to 18 years of age may enrol in the cadet program at any time throughout the training year.

Army cadet activities are centred on adventure training and leadership. Uniforms are loaned at no charge and summer training from two weeks to seven weeks is included for selectedcadets at no charge.Check out Cadets online at http://www.cadets.ca for more information or email 2302army@cadets.gc.ca.
