On Friday, Feb. 1, a family dance is going to be held at Carlyle Memorial Hall between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Prices for the night of entertainment are $15 for adults, $10 for kids, and $30 for a family. Tickets will be available at the door. This not only includes the amazing music sure to get people stomping their feet, but also a late night luncheon.

Performing for the evening are three extremely talented musicians: Gordon Stobbe, JJ Guy, and Ray Bell.

Stobbe is originally from Saskatchewan, but moved to Nova Scotia in 1977. He enjoys coming back to the province though and is often found at the Kenosee Lake Kitchen Party held each summer in the area. He has performed for a number of years and has been involved with different musical television and radio productions such as Up Home Tonight.

He was also influential in developing the music program at Musicstop's Canadian Conservatory of Music, which he still teaches at only now it is called Long and McQuade Music Education Centre.

JJ Guy is also from Saskatchewan. He was steeped in traditional fiddle music as a young musician. He fiddled his way to a number of titles which include the Saskatchewan Junior and Novice Fiddling Championships. Joining bands along the way he developed into quite a good stage performer, which led him to perform at multiple Saskatchewan Fiddler Association events.

As an exceptional fiddler he has shared his knowledge and passion with many through fiddle camps featured across the country, also including the Kenosee Lake Kitchen Party because Michele Amy and her husband Will Elliot look for some of the most talented people possible when putting on the camp at Kenosee.

Joining Stobbe and Guy on Feb. 1 is Ray Bell. Bell is a flatpick guitarist who is well known through his past connections to, Newkirk and Bell, a former country duo. Bell is able to easily play an acoustic or electric guitar and enjoys accompanying fiddlers. Bell currently resides in Regina and is a co-owner of Music in the House there. He is also a committed instructor at the Kenosee Lake Kitchen Party each year. The show is rightly sponsored by the Kenosee Lake Kitchen Party then as well as, Saskatchewan Arts Board, Canadian Heritage, and Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music.

The dance is being held as a fundraiser for the 24th Annual Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition which will be held in Saskatoon this year. This is an exciting time for fiddlers west of Ontario because the CGM Fiddling Competition has never before been held outside of Ottawa. Here 30 of Canada's most talented fiddlers will perform, competing for the 2013 title.
