Canadiens Alumni Team will be in Gravelbourg

The Montreal Canadiens Alumni Team will be in Gravelbourg on Saturday, January 20. The event will be an action-packed afternoon of hockey fun, as the Montreal Canadiens Alumni Team take on the Notekeu Old Stars, a pre-selected group of hockey players from southern Saskatchewan.

The La Palestre Arena in Gravelbourg will hold a VIP Ice Breaker Event, hosted by the Gravelbourg Curling Club, from noon to 1:30 p.m. The doors open to the public at 1:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies is 2:30 p.m., and the puck drop is 3 p.m.

The Montreal Canadiens Alumni roster and the unveiling of the Tractor giveaway was announced on January 8.

The roster for the Montreal Canadiens includes Oleg Petrov, Keith Acton, coach Steven Shutt, Normand Dupont, Gaston Gingras, Jessie Belanger, Richard Sevigny, Brian Skrudland, Stephane Richer, Jocelyn Lemieux and Patrice Brisebois.

E. Bourassa and Sons and New Holland Agriculture has donated a new Holland Boomer 24 Tractor to the Gravelbourg Minor Hockey Fundraiser. “E. Bourassa and Sons main focus is on family and community. Bourassa’s is honored to be part of a fundraiser that is integral to the community of Gravelbourg.”

Tickets for the Boomer Tractor will go on sale at the Montreal Canadiens Alumni hockey game. All money raised will go to Gravelbourg Minor Hockey. Other special events during the Hockey Showdown include a Kermit Shoot during the first intermission, and a cash lotto and 50/50 draws during the second intermission.

E. Bourassa and Sons is an ambitious, award-winning New Holland Agriculture Dealership. Bourassa’s was established in 1924, it’s locally owned and operated, and has five locations across Southern Saskatchewan. E. Bourassa and Sons has been partnering with producers and communities for generations.

The Montreal Canadiens Alumni Team will be back in Gravelbourg on Sunday, January 21, for a special Sunday Family Fun day at the La Palestre Arena. Doors for the Family Fun Day open at 11 a.m. Cost is $10 per person, $5 for ages 12 and under, or $20 for a family.

Special events of the Family Fun Day include an autograph session from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., then the Celebrity Shootout from 1 to 2 p.m., and finally the Skate With the Kids from 2 to 2:30 p.m.
