On February 15th, the grade 2/3 Jump Rope for Heart Club held their Jump Off. This year we had 39 students take part. Together the students raised $4790.63 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan! Great Job! Thank you to everyone that sponsored a jumper and to all of the parents who came to watch and to help out with the Jump Off.

The staff and students participated in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada's School & Youth Program "Make Change Beat Cancer". Students were encouraged to bring change to school to help with the fight against blood cancers. To date the school has collected $1098.50! Great job and thanks to everyone for donating!

Grade 5 and 6 curling will be wrapping up on March 7th. Thanks to Miss. Stephanson and Mrs. Newell who have been working with the students on their curling skills. Badminton will be the next activity offered. For the grade 5 students badminton will be Mondays after school starting on March 19th and for the grade 6 students it will be Wednesdays after school starting on March 14th. Watch for notes to be coming home for students interested in joining badminton.

CN was working on a plan to place a transfer station in Carlyle which would be located next to the tracks just south of our playground. Our School Community Councils were concerned with the implications it would have on the safety of our children and attended a Town Council meeting and have written letters of concern. The Town of Carlyle has opposed the idea and has last heard from CN that at this time there is no plan to proceed. There is no plan to proceed at this time, but we are worried about what that may mean down the road. Please be sure to voice your opinion if you are concerned about it too! Our number one concern is always the safety of our students!

We are still collecting Campbell's soup labels to send away to purchase educational resources. If you are collecting labels, they can be dropped off at the school any time.

March is Nutrition Month. To celebrate we will be having a school wide Healthy Lunch Contest from March 5th to 9th. The class with the healthiest lunches throughout the week will win a special healthy treat! Last week in March we will be having a Milk Spirit Week with a variety of different activities taking place. On Friday, March 30th, students will take part in a Milk Dress Up Day. Students can be creative and dress up in the color of his or her favorite kind of milk, dress up like a cow or dress up like a milk farmer. For the afternoon of the 30th, the students will then take part in the Moo Olympics!
