The Carlyle Fire and Rescue team recently purchased a new 2021 CF Moto Side by Side, and the Observer caught up with Fire Chief Don Van Meer regarding the acquisition.

“Since 2014, we have owned an Arctic Cat Snowmobile to assist with accident retrieval and the like for rough terrain areas that are tough to get at.

“Due to the warmer winters and dry conditions, we have had it in use a grand total of three times the past eight years. This fall, we were able to sell the sled locally and decided to shop around for an all-terrain vehicle.”

Carlyle Fire and Rescue then decided to purchase a new side by side from Moose Mountain Leisure. Together with a community support discount from the manufacturer, CF Moto, and donations from both Carlyle Dental and Moose Mountain Leisure, the team, as always, decided to buy local.

Founded in 1989, CF Moto designs and manufactures innovative power sports vehicles. It has sold its products in Eastern Canada for many years but has recently expanded to Western Canada.

Added Van Meer: “Carlyle Fire and Rescue is pleased with the purchase of this new all-terrain vehicle. It will help us immensely in emergency situations such as accidents and grass fires occurring far away off the beaten path.

“We are also able to utilize our retrieval sleigh with the side by side. It is definitely a great addition to our rescue equipment.”
