The second annual Natural Health and Healing expo was held in Carlyle on July 6-7 and saw residents turning out to explore a range of alternative natural health products over the weekend.

The event which was held at the Memorial Hall had over 10 vendors from across the province displaying various products. The organizer of the event Chaelynn Slykhuis said the tourism appeal of Carlyle has benefitted the expo and holding the event in the town is ideal. Slykhus said last year's event had a lot of people in attendance and this year is no different and spoke to the goal of the expo.

"We're trying to achieve health and wellness and better things for everybody's life and making better choices for themselves... Now a day's everybody is getting cancer and they're taking so many pills and we want to get away from that and do self healing," she said. From experts in fitness routines and self healing to vendors selling natural cosmetics the show offered something for everyone. First time vendor in Carlyle and independent business co-owner of "Serenigy," Lester Mack offered an alternative to regular coffee at the expo. "Serenigy," specializes in healthy gourmet coffees and teas and according to Mack his lineup of beverages offers more compared to typical coffee minus the negative effects of caffeine.

"My coffees and teas have an herb in it called ganoderma, it's made from the "reishi" mushroom, so what you're doing is you're getting over a 150 natural anti-oxidants, 200 phytonutrients you can drink it all day and sleep at night and is the number one adaption in the world so it's going to feed the body of the nutrients it needs," Mack said explaining the benefits of his product.

Natural health extended its reach beyond the typical as scented candle were on hand and a broad the range of products and services at the show.Independent consultant of Scentsy candles Joylne Cherpin, explained the uniqueness of her candles, as they carry no flame or smoke when in use.

"We're wickless candles, so all our warmers have distilled light bulbs in them and our waxes are melted with 15, 20, or 25 watts light bulbs no danger of catching anything on fire," she said.

The second day of the event saw crowds dwindle but according to organizers many people who attended were not aware of the expo until the very day of the event. None the less the expo still had its expected turn out on the first day.
