Struggles in getting the Carlyle pool to open for the summer have been met with success. Through donations that are still being received the pool will be able to open on July 1, weather permitting.

They will be holding swimming lessons this year. Registration opens on June 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Carlyle and District Leisure Complex.

They are still working on the schedule currently, but will soon have it completed. Letting you know when lessons, public swims, and any other activities will be.

The Carlyle pool is sorry to be unable to offer after school swimming lessons as usual. Normally they are able to, but because of the setback in the renovations the lessons will be offered a little later in the summer as they will not be opening until Canada Day.

The company performing the renovations hopes to have everything completed within the month thereby allowing for the grand opening this summer at the beginning of July. Just in time for the students, free from school, to cool off and have fun during the hot summer days ahead.

The junior Olympic size pool was built in 1995 and at 17 years old needed major repairs. They have been working on funding the project the past couple of years, knowing something had to be done when a structural assessment was performed in 2010.

Finally they were able to go through with the replacement of the liner and resurfacing of the pool only to discover that the extent of the damages would cost more money. Donations continue to come in and are greatly appreciated for the completion of the pool's renovations.

All will be pleased to note that the pool will not be closed this summer like rumours had stated.

They will be open. They will be offering swimming lessons. They will be looking forward to seeing you this summer as you head out for a relaxing dip during a hot summer day.
