The long weekend of May usually sees a high number of RCMP calls. In the past serious collisions and alcohol related incidents were issues.

Though people voiced concerns regarding over policing, the fact is the RCMP had no serious incidents throughout May long weekend.

With help from Weyburn, Estevan, and Yorkton Traffic Services, the Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP focused on prevention. Stopping impaired drivers before a serious collision could occur was a part of their weekend initiative.

Safety is the RCMP's main concern and ensuring everyone is able to enjoy their time while not being a danger to themselves or others is their main goal.

"Due to the support of our partners this long weekend saw no serious collisions, no serious assaults, and it was one of the safest weekends, May long weekends, on record for the Carlyle Detachment," Cpl. Kelly Guider stated.
