Carlyle Elementary School held their second Celebration of Learning assembly on May 11. Each class presented something that they had learnt within the classroom. They did this through song, dance, and various other forms of presentations. The youth thoroughly enjoyed themselves, presenting and attentively watching each other perform. Teachers and a group of parents also attended filling the gym with an extremely interested audience.

The grade twos performed two songs, Coconut Tree and Jessica Jean, which had won them a scholarship at the Redvers District Music Festival for Choral Performance. The other grade two class presented their creation of a book, which was played on power point. Each student drew an illustration for the book and was narrated by them. It was titled, Snowed In at Carlyle Elementary School. They then sang a short song.

The Pre-Kindergarten class sang songs that they enjoy to sing every day, while the Kindergarten's performed an alphabet song. Focused on sounds, such as 'E is for elephant,' they performed while using sign language. The grade one classes combined their presentation, which was focused on treaties. Treaties being promises, they shared some of their own treaties they created within their classrooms.

The grade threes took the song It's a Wonderful World, and looked at the words to understand them better. Pictures were put up on a screen as the song played that the youth had illustrated. The other grade three class performed the song Don't Laugh at Me. This they had worked on because of the dedication the school has towards being a bully free zone and the RespectED program that focuses on not laughing at others, as that can be a form of bullying.

The grade fours talked about the changes that European settlers forced upon the First Nations of Canada: horses, the fur trade, and treaties. Having drawn pictures for each they presented this information at the front of the gym.

The grade sixes did a skit on uses of power, focusing on three: force, authority, and influence. While the other grade six class showed videos of their dancing abilities. They had been learning dances in class such as Bunny hop, Polka, and Two Step. Their favourites, however, were Hip Hop and Jive.

It was a fantastic day that allowed students to share what they have been learning. With the great support of the teachers it was a success. The day was enjoyed by students, teachers, and parents alike.
