Centennial celebration takes place in Pangman

The Pangman 100-year celebration committee held their final get-together on Oct. 22, and co-hosted a harvest supper with Charity Farms Pangman school community kitchen served in the school gymnasium.



The Pangman 100-year celebration committee held their final get-together on Oct. 22, and co-hosted a harvest supper with Charity Farms Pangman school community kitchen served in the school gymnasium.

There were 205 meals served, and 18 of these were delivered to the Care Home. On display during the supper was clothing from the 100 years celebration and DVDs for sale. Pictures and memories from the centennial celebration weekend in August were included on the DVD.
Sponsors of the centennial celebrations included the 2005 Homecoming committee, Pangman Co-op, Radius Credit Union, Grainbelt Agencies-Milestone and Pangman, E. Bourassa and Sons, Clear Creek organics, Borderline Feeders in Ceylon, the Weyburn Inland Terminal, the Village of Pangman and the RM of Norton.

Volunteers created a successful event on Aug. 12 to 14, with roughly 3,500 volunteer hours over the 18 months of planning. Added with the week of celebration itself, the totals reached 1,200 hours with the tent crew, registrations, meals, cabaret, Memory Lane room, silent auction and the sales table.

The centennial celebration committee donated $35,000 to Charity Farms, which will be used for the community kitchen at the Pangman School. The kitchen can be utilized by other organizations in the community.
