Carlyle Elementary school likes to do parent teacher interviews a little differently.

The school opts out of the traditional style parent teacher interviews and goes for student involvement. In this technique, the students accompany their parents to the elementary school and personally show them their work.

Report cards were handed out earlier in the week, and the conferences took place April 25 and 26, 5 - 8 p.m.

The students held their parents' hands and led them through the classrooms and hallways, showing their work with pride.

"This one's mine," one girl said while pointing at a project hanging on the wall. "This is why I don't like bullying."

Other students chose to show off their machine projects at the front entrance. The cars and trucks were made out of cardboard boxes, Lego and any other creative parts and tools.

After this, a short talk with the teacher begins and involves the child once again.

The families become aware of what needs to be worked on, and high fives were shared over the things they were doing well in.

Students were given a day off to recuperate on Friday, April 27.
