The City of Estevan has announced more changes are coming for the weight room inside the Estevan Leisure Centre.

The weight room will be closed from Nov. 5-10 and is slated to reopen on Nov. 11. This closure will allow for staff and contractors to perform some of the upgrades that the weight room committee has chosen to make their first focus.

During the shutdown users will see upgrades to the facility in many different forms, including a new independent air handling unit that will be installed. The unit will regulate and circulate air as part of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system to increase the air quality in the room.

Lighting, ceiling tiles, new equipment storage areas, a fresh coat of paint, and a new entry card scanning system that compliments the admission software that admissions uses are among the other upgrades. A few pieces of equipment will be removed and added to the inventory.

These upgrades won’t be the last of the improvements that people will see over the next few months, but they will allow for a majority of any other work that will be done in the area to be completed with minimal interruption in service.

As always, the committee is open to input, and for ideas to be brought forward. People can suggest these ideas by contacting the information desk in the Estevan Leisure Centre and it will be passed on to the committee; by emailing program manager Erin Wilson at e.wilson@estevan.ca, or by contacting any one of the committee members.

Committee members are Wilson, Logan Bomberak, Brian Dueck, Rory Fleming, Becky Franke, Nicole Grass, Adele Irwin, Doug Smart, Sherri Waldegger and Dylan LaFrentz.
