The City of Weyburn has been working with the Ministry of Environment as well as consulting engineers to resolve the City's water advisory in a timely manner.

The Ministry of Environment advised the City of Weyburn to clean all of the reservoirs and perform a modified flush of the system.

The cleaning of the reservoirs requires the use of a robotic machine that scrubs the bottom of the reservoir where sediment collects. Professional divers were brought in to scrub the walls and areas that the robotic machine cannot reach.

During the cleaning of the reservoirs and flushing of the system, residents may have noticed some slight discoloration of the water and/or a stronger chlorine smell while showering or washing clothes.

According to the City, once the reservoirs have been cleaned, the system also needs to be flushed. If, after all this is complete and more tests are taken indicating that the system is clear, the PDWA should be lifted.
