City police deal with an assault, mischief incidents

The Weyburn Police Service dealt with a number of complaints during the week of June 9-16, including incidents of vandalism, assault and many alcohol-related incidents.

A citizen who resides in the northeast area of the city reported that the rear window to his residence was smashed on Saturday. Anyone with information regarding this is encouraged to report to Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or contact the Weyburn Police Service.

A woman attended the office on Sunday and reported being assaulted the previous evening in the downtown area. She attended for medical attention as a result of injuries incurred during the altercation. The matter is under investigation; the identity of the female responsible for the assault is not known at this time.

While on general patrol on Sunday, police observed numerous street signs pulled out of the ground. Anyone with any information about this is asked to contact the Weyburn Police Service.

In the early hours of the morning of June 11, police were advised to watch for a possible impaired driver heading into Weyburn from Yellow Grass. Police located the vehicle and arrested the male driver for impaired driving. He was transported to the Weyburn Police Service where he refused to complete a full breath test and was charged under the Criminal Code for refusal. In addition, he was found to be a suspended and impoundable driver and charged accordingly and release from cells once sober.

Later the same evening, Police received a call about a male sleeping on pallets near a local vehicle dealership. The male was found to be the one who was charged above. He was advised to move from the site and informed about various transportation options out of the city.

Police attended Clark Park in Weyburn on June 11 and reminded those using the park that alcohol is not allowed at this public location and that if observed it may be seized and individuals may receive tickets under the alcohol and gaming regulations act.

Citizens are asked to report any information to the Weyburn Police Service that they might know about a vehicle tire slashing that occurred near Park Avenue around June 11.

Police attended a local bar in regard to a male who was passed out on the floor on June 13. He was arrested and lodged in cells for being intoxicated in a public place and was released once he sobered.

Police received a complaint on June 14 about of young person forwarding sexual explicit photographs of themselves. The matter is under investigation.

People are reminded that photographs and messages on social media outlets are not private. They can not only be hurtful, but also can be captured, forwarded and saved. These types of incidents can lead to bylaw or Criminal Code charges.Police are asking citizens of all ages to think before they post and send messages and report any occurrences they may need assistance with.

Police attended a complaint of a noisy party on Saturday. The male person in charge of the property was charged under the City bylaw.

Police received a report of a male passed out on the ground behind a local school on Sunday. Police attended and transported the male to his residence and left him in the care of his mother.

Police attended a residence on Sunday as there was damage done to a decorative light in their yard. The individual responsible is not known at this time.

Police attended to a domestic dispute over property; police attended to keep the peace. The property settlement remains outstanding between the parties, but the individuals parted ways.

Police attended a downtown bar to deal with a drunk patron who was outside causing problems after being refused service on Sunday. The individual was taken to his hotel room without further incident.
