City police investigate accidents and assaults

The Weyburn Police Service responded to 91 calls for service during the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 4, including accidents, assaults and several alcohol-related incidents.

Police attended an accident on Souris Avenue on Aug. 29, as a vehicle attempting to cross Souris Avenue from one business to another collided with a second vehicle. Two passengers were transported to hospital and released shortly after. A charge of driving without due care and attention was laid.

A male was warned about his actions when he threatened motorists with a baseball bat on Aug. 29; he was upset over excessive speeds on the street.

A female reported that she had been assaulted at a local bar on Friday; the investigation is ongoing.

Police arrested a male for breaching his undertaking, and he was lodged in cells on Saturday.

Police were called to a local bar after a complaint of an unconscious male was received on Sunday. The male had been involved in an altercation in the bar and had received minor injuries. He was transported to hospital where he was treated and released.

City police responded to a local bar regarding noise and someone breaking bottles on Aug. 30. Several patrons were dispersed and a 24-hour suspension was issued.

The door at a hotel was broken when a patron was given an eviction notice. The matter was settled without incident.

The driver of a vehicle that had run into a fence was charged with failing to notify the property owner.

A female was warned about sending texts to her ex-boyfriend on Aug. 31.

A homeowner was warned about a noisy dog on Sept. 1.

A male that had been staying at a residence stole a cell phone. He was charged for theft when he was found in possession of the phone on Sept. 1.

An officer checked a vehicle during a routine traffic stop on Friday. The driver was arrested and subsequently charged with driving while over .08.

A female driver was issued a 30-day driving suspension on Sunday after failing a roadside breath test.
