City police investigate calls of thefts and mischief

A total of 89 calls for service were received during March 14-20, including five residential and one commercial alarm, and a number of charges of theft and mischief. City police are investigating a theft from a personal bank account on Thursday.

City police are investigating a theft from a personal bank account on Thursday. The suspect used the victim's ATM card and withdrew funds. Two charges of theft under $5,000 were laid.

On Mar. 14, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at a local grocery store. A female was arrested and charged for theft under $5,000.

Police attended an accident at the Fifth street and Coteau Avenue intersection on Mar. 15. An east-bound vehicle on Coteau Avenue failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a south-bound vehicle on Fifth street. The driver of the east-bound vehicle was charged for failing to stop at the stop sign.

A call was received about a vehicle driving erratically on Mar. 16, splashing people as it drove by them. A charge of splashing a pedestrian is pending.

A vehicle stopped for a crossing guard holding a stop sign by an elementary school when a second vehicle passed it on the right failing to stop on Mar. 16. Police were unable to find the suspect vehicle but remind motorists to obey crossing guards in school zones.

Police responded to a domestic dispute on Sunday. A male was arrested for assault and removed from the residence. He was lodged in cells and released later that day.

When police responded to a domestic dispute on Friday, one of the parties ran away on their arrival. A male was located a short time later and was lodged in cells for being intoxicated in public.

The same day, a male who was causing a disturbance in a residence was removed and lodged in cells.

A vehicle was damaged in a hit and run accident when it was struck in the front bumper on Friday, pushing the vehicle approximately 15 feet from where it was parked. The suspect reported the accident the following morning and was charged for failing to notify the property owner of damage to his vehicle.

City police responded to a noisy party complaint on Saturday. A male was yelling at people as they walked by; he was arrested and taken to police cells. He was charged with resisting arrest.
