City police receive many flood-related complaints

During the past week of June 20- 26, members of the Weyburn Police Service dealt with 111 occurrences; many of the complaints were alcohol related or of loud noise, and members also attended many flood-related calls for service.

The Police Service would like to once again remind residents that taking any sort of flotation device or boat on to flood waters is not safe.

Police were called to the flooded area of the Souris River several times on June 22 as a number of reports of young people in rafts or tire tubes were received.

Police were called to a complaint of people trying to go on the river with tire tubes on Friday. They were spoken to and advised it was unsafe.

Police were called to investigate a report of an assault with a weapon on Thursday. A Weyburn male was arrested and charged. It is alleged that he stabbed a Weyburn female once with a knife; she received minor injuries. The male will appear in court in July.

Police were called on June 21 to investigate a complaint of a suspicious door-to-door solicitation for donations for flood victims in the city. The matter is under investigation.

Starting on June 20, police were called to several 911 calls that were related to water in the phone lines.

Police were called to a residential area to a dispute between neighbours on June 20. The matter was resolved without incident.

The same day, police were called to investigate a complaint of harassment via a social networking web site, and the matter was resolved.

Police were called to investigate a hit-and-run accident in the city. The matter is under investigation.

City police arrested a young person who was at large and had several warrants for his arrest. The youth was held in custody.

Police were called to help locate the parents of a two-year-old that had wandered away from home. The child's mother was found a short time later.

Police were called to a local residence regarding a male person causing a disturbance. The male was gone on police arrival.
