Three days of cultural events will be hosted by the City of Weyburn, the Weyburn Arts Council and the Sun Country Kids Club for the provincial Culture Days celebration.

There will be free Culture Days workshops held for schools at the Signal Hill Arts Centre on Friday, Sept. 28. Then two days of cultural activities will be offered free at the Weyburn Comp on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29 and 30.
It should be noted that the Comp is a new location for the Culture Days, as the event had to be moved from its prior location of the Weyburn Curling Rink.
Schools will have an opportunity to attend special workshops that are 70 minutes in length and open to classrooms Grade 4 level and up. These workshops are offered at the Signal Hill Arts Centre.
In these workshops the students will participate in Aboriginal activities. Carol Morin, a Cree/Chipewyan freelance writer and award-winning journalist from Regina Beach, will conduct different workshops for Grades 4 to 6 and Grades 7 to 12.
All the supplies and instruction are free of charge to interested classes and are sponsored by Sask. Culture, Sask. Lotteries, the City of Weyburn, the Weyburn Arts Council and the Sun Country Kids Club.

For the general public, there will be a two-day Culture Days event at the Comp. Doors open at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29 and 30.
Greg Johnson, the "Tornado Hunter" from Regina, will make a special appearance at the Culture Days at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Johnson, one of North America's top professional storm-chasers and severe weather experts, is also an accomplished photographer, speaker and workshop leader.
There will be a Youth Talent Show featured on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11:30 a.m. This will be a "People's Choice" talent show. Interested singers should contact Shannon Seitz at the Sun Country Kids Club, as they are only accepting 12 performers.
Special events on Sunday, Sept. 30 include the multicultural fashion show at 1 p.m. and the children's fashion show at 1:30 p.m. Other entertainment includes the Happy Wanderers, Weyburn Twirlers, belly dancing with Rachel Allen, East Indian dancers, the Ocean Man First Nation performers, a Ukrainian Dance Club, a Filipino band, a German Club, and a trade show for local and regional artists, vendors and other organizations.
The trade show will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Items to be sold or displayed may include art work, crafts, clothing, food, jewelry or antiques.
There will also be a silent auction for artists who choose to enter art work. Proceeds from the sale go back to the artist.
Culture Days is sponsored by Sask. Cultures and Sask. Lotteries.
Entertainment sponsors include the Family Place, Southeast Regional Library and the Sask. Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration.
