Curves Weyburn is holding its 14th annual Curves Food Drive for the Weyburn Salvation Army Food Bank.

"The 2012 Curves Food Drive promotion is designed to provide a way for clubs to give back to the community," said Sharon Leguee, owner of Weyburn Curves. "For more than a decade the Curves community has joined together to build up food banks and this is needed in communities now more than ever."

She says their goal is to gather 1,000 pounds of food but they would like to go higher if they can. Items that they are hoping to see donated are non-perishable food such as canned fruit and vegetables, dairy and protein products. In particular need at the Weyburn Food Bank are peanut butter, jam, Kraft Dinner, pasta sauce and juice boxes.

Leguee said that so far, they are half way to their goal, having acquired about 500 lbs of food.

Until March 25, Curves will be offering a special promotion. Women can join Curves without a service fee if they donate a bag of non-perishable food or bring $30 for the Weyburn Salvation Army Food Bank.

Donations can be dropped off at Curves in Weyburn during regular business hours: Monday to Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Friday 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Curves is closed weekdays from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
