Applications for the Helen Davidson Music Award are due April 30.
Each year a worthy recipient is awarded $2,000.The award is open to Weyburn and area residents (or former residents who studied in the area) who are involved in the study of music in any form. Solo performers or choir directors wishing to continue their music training are encouraged to apply.
Application forms for this award are available online. A DVD of the applicant's musical performance is required for the application.
Past winners since the award's inception include Meagan Milatz, Chelsea Woodard, Brayden Jensen ($500), and Britney Alexander.
Helen Davidson, a piano teacher and organist and choir director at Weyburn's Calvary Baptist Church for over 60 years, passed away on March 5 at 102 years old.
