Volunteers work at trying to remove sewage which backed up into the basement of the Family Place on Friday and Saturday, a result of a huge rainstorm which dumped over four inches of rain on the city and area. Due to the contamination of the sewage, the Family Place building is closed and cannot be reopened; everything that was in the basement has to be thrown out, and the main and second floors were also contaminated by the sewage. Volunteers from the Young Fellows and from parents of children who attend the Family Place helped out, with over 50 people who played a part in helping with the cleanup. The Family Place will try and find an alternate place out of which to operate; the Mini-Go and Tiny-Go programs both finished for the year on Thursday, the day before the big storm.
