Sandra LaRose received a standing ovation of support as she presented the very first scholarship in memory of her daughter, Kailynn Bursic-Panchuk, at the Weyburn Comprehensive School's awards night on Tuesday evening. The first recipients of this award are Hannah Grieve and Jillian LaBatte, who Sandra said exemplify the character that Kailynn strove to show in caring for other people. She attended Grades 10 and 11 at the Comp and was excited to graduate, but was tragically killed last August in an accident with a train near Weyburn.
