There will be plenty of programs and activities for families to take in during the February break week in Weyburn.

Two week-long programs are set, including the Nike sports camp to be held at the Weyburn Comp, and the City of Weyburn’s art camp, both going from Feb. 17 to 21.

The sports camp will offer children aged six to 12 a chance to learn about a number of sports, from soccer and baseball to basketball and volleyball.

Each day will be a full schedule from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and every participant will get a T-shirt with chances for prizes. There will also be the option for half-days if needed.

The February art camp is for children aged eight to 12, with a wide variety of art forms offered throughout the week.

This camp will include clay, drawing and painting, magic tricks, carving, embroidery, drama, papiere maché, and a gallery extension program with projects made that can be taken home.

The camp will cost $185 a person, and runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the week at the Sun Room and meeting room in the Weyburn Leisure Centre.

A fundraiser event will be held by the Weyburn Youth Council on Monday, Feb. 17, weather permitting, at the outdoor skating rink downtown on Second Street and Souris Avenue.

This will be a fundraiser for KidSport, and families are invited to come down from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with their skates, and members of the Red Wings will be on hand along with hot dogs, hot chocolate and a firepit in the middle of the oval.

At the end of the break week, there will be two events that weekend, including the Young Fellows Club’s family carnival for the Weyburn Hospital Foundation on Saturday, Feb. 22.

The event will go from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Knox Hall, with carnival games, bouncy houses, a concession, and magician Richy Roy. The tickets are $10 per person or $35 for a family of four, and will be available at the door.

The Weyburn Public Library will hold winter activities on Sunday, Feb. 23, starting at 2 p.m., weather permitting. Planned activities will include snowshoeing, snow sculptures, painting and more. There is no cost or preregistration required for this program.
