Fire fighters use a chemical compound to seal a diesel fuel leak at the scene of an "accident" between this truck and a light plane. The accident scene was first sprayed down with foam to prevent any ignition of leaking fuel before the fire fighters moved in to seal off any leaks in the back of the truck; this was to secure the scene safely prior to rescuing the injured people from the accident scene. This was the scene for a mock disaster exercise held at the Weyburn airport on Sept. 10; the exercise was held to test the knowledge and response of emergency agencies, including the Weyburn Fire Department. This week is Fire Prevention Week in Weyburn, and fire fighters will be sharing their knowledge and expertise with residents of all ages, providing tips for staying safe at home and at work.
