The Estevan Emergency Measures Office has issued an update regarding the local flood situation:

The Estevan Emergency Measures Committee has continued to monitor the water flow from the Rafferty Dam and Boundary Dam. Significant increases have been noted in the area, water is now crossing Highway 18 west of Highway 47. Significant levels have also been noted south of the City of Estevan and south of Willow Park Greens Trailer Park.

According to the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority the combined releases are at 450 cubic meters per second.

The Evacuation Alert for Willow Park Greens Trailer Park remains in effect and will be closely monitored during the day. If an Evacuation Order becomes necessary the residents of the area will be advised. The Estevan Emergency Measures Committee has a plan in place to deal with an evacuation if it becomes necessary.

The Estevan Water Treatment Plant is continuing to operate normally at this time.

Residents who are seeking information are asked to call 306 634 1855 or check the website at www.estevan.ca. Residents who are wishing to travel are asked to contact the Highways Hotline before travelling.

Residents are asked to stay away from the area of Highway 47 South and Highway 18 West. Yesterday hundreds of vehicles carrying curious on-lookers came into the area. Highway 18 is down to one lane and there are flaggers controlling traffic. Other roads have been closed off around Estevan, namely down to the Water Treatment Plant. People are driving around barricades and are ignoring road closed signs. The police have laid charges for disregarding road signs and will continue to do so.

Residents are asked to call the Estevan Police Service, RCMP or 911if they see an emergency or persons disregarding road closures.
