The McDonalds Restaurant in Weyburn is holding a fundraiser for the family that lost their home to a fire in North Weyburn last week. On March 15, for every Big Mac sandwich sold, McDonalds will donate $1 to the DeConnick family.
Residents can also show support to the family by donating to a trust fund which has been set up in the DeConnick name at the Weyburn Credit Union.
The family of six lost everything in the fire, which burned their family home to the ground on March 2. The DeConnick family consists of four children aged two, seven, nine and 12.
All community efforts to assist the family will be coordinated through The Family Place, Salvation Army, Red Cross, and Assiniboia Park Elementary School in conjunction with the DeConnick family. Anyone wishing to donate furniture, clothing or services to the family can contact The Family Place.
