The Government of Saskatchewan is providing grants to more than 1,000 volunteer organizations across the province. The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) is distributing a total of approximately $2 million through charitable gaming grants.

"Volunteer organizations work hard to provide sports and recreation opportunities for our youth and offer a variety of other programs that enhance their local communities," Minister responsible for SLGA Tim McMillan said. "Their efforts are vital and our government is proud to support their hard work by providing them with charitable gaming grants."

Among the grants provided by SLGA: North Battleford and area received $110,856; Beauval and Ile a La Crosse area: $75,850; Yorkton and area: $66,337; Moose Jaw and area: $58,562 and Swift Current and area received $41,098.

These quarterly grants are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities such as bingos, raffles, break-open tickets, Texas Hold'em poker and Monte Carlo events. Charitable gaming reports submitted by groups are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grant amounts.
