The volleyball playing students of GFK had a great season this year. The Senior Girls' team, coached by Bree Ryan, finished 2nd in the District and advanced to Regionals where they finished 4th. The Intermediate Boys, coached by Mr. Birch, played in the District Finals at home on Wednesday. The GFK boys defeated Weyburn in the final to take home the gold medals as District Champs! The Intermediate Girls, coached by Mrs. Reaves and Miss Wiebe, were on the road playing their finals. They played hard and had some exciting games. The 2 GFK Rookie Girls' Teams, coached by Mrs. Sargent, Mrs. Derrault, and Micky Adams, hosted their District Playoffs. All the girls played well with the grade 8 team finishing in 1st and the grade 7 team finishing in 3rd. GFK hosted both the Rookie Girls' Finals and the Intermediate Boys' Finals. A huge thanks goes out to the students, parents, and staff, who made this possible. A special thanks to Mr. Johnson for helping out with some coaching, and to Nicole Brown and Renae Faford for reffing all day long.

The SLT has been busy building school spirit all year. Last week they held the first "Boys Versus Girls Chant-Off" in the gym. In the end, the girls "got served" after the boys hollered their way to victory! The SLT also had a Spirit Week which included PJ Day, "ER" Day, Cowboy Day, and Rider Day. Go Riders!

Just to let parents know, our awesome GFK librarian, Mrs. Richardson, will order book suggestions from students. If they will read it, she will get it! Many students have already told Mrs. Richardson about their favourite authors and book series. Keep it up!

On the last Thursday of the month, students from the G.F. Kells High School will be out in community for 2 hours after school (3:15-5:15). They will be volunteering their time to make our community a better, cleaner place. If you would like some extra help, we are here for you. Whether it's picking garbage, raking leaves, shoveling snow, or anything else, our students are willing to help! Please contact Miss Wiebe via email: angelica.wiebe@cornerstonesd.ca with your ideas for Day of Help! Next Day of Help: Nov. 21, 2013.

The male staff at the high school will be participating in the Movember moustache growing challenge to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research.

Term 1 Report Cards will be sent out on Tuesday, November 26th, 2013. Parents, please look for these!

Parent Teacher Interviews (3 Way Conferencing) are scheduled for Wednesday, November 27th, and Thursday, November 28th, from 5:00 to 8:00pm in the evenings.

There will be no school on Friday, November 29th, 2013, in lieu of P/T Interviews the previous evenings.
