Gordon F. Kells High School Cougar Corner

The grade 7 and 8 classes attended the Pow-Wow at Whitebear last week. It was an opportunity which was both entertaining and educational. The drums, the costumes, and the dancing were all amazing to hear and see.

It was great to see so many moms at the Mother's Day Pancake breakfast last week. Megan McAuley won the Hunger Games poster (donated by the Prairie Dog Drive-in) and many moms won flowers. Thank you to Mrs. Rutten and the Student Council for all of their efforts. A similar breakfast will be held in June for Fathers' Day. Everyone will again be welcome.

Mr. Corrigan, Miss Down, and Mr. Zacharias would like to thank all of the parents who drove for badminton events this season. A special thanks goes out to Tara Bendtsen for all of her help with coaching. We couldn't do it without all of you!

Track practices continue on Wednesdays after school as well as Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

The Student Council continues to sell muffins and donuts ($1 each) during the first break of each day.

Local businesses can have a business-card size advertisement placed in the yearbook for $20 or they can sponsor a photo page for $30. Half-page and full-page advertisements are also available. If you are interested in placing an ad in the GFK yearbook please contact Melissa Sweet for details. The 2010-2011 yearbooks are still available. The cost is now $20. The 2011-2012 yearbooks are $25. If anyone has taken pictures of GFK students which might be of interest to the Yearbook Committee, please email them to Melissa Sweet at melissa.sweet@cornerstonesd.ca so the pictures can be included in the 2011-2012 Yearbook. Currently the yearbook is looking for pictures from senior girls' volleyball and drama.

There are no classes on Victoria Day which is Monday, May 21.

Anyone who is interested in advertising on the school's virtual signs should contact Mr. Howe at the school.
