Mrs. Rutten and the GF Kells Teen Council will be attending the National Student Leadership Conference in Weyburn this week.
Mr. Zacharias, Mr. Andrusiak, and the Cross Country Team continue running 3 days a week after schools. The Division Meet is Wednesday, October 3rd in Carnduff. The top 10 grade 9-12 students in each category advance to Provincials in Balgonie on Sat. October 13th, 2012.
Mr. Birch, Mr. Johnson, and the GF Kells Golf Team had a great showing at the District Playoffs at Kenosee. Congratulations to Mitchell Morrison who finished 3rd. This was a playoff which found Mitchell, a grade 9 student, up against students from grades 9-12 from the entire Southeast. He advances to the Provincial Golf Championship in Prince Albert, on Saturday, September 22. Good luck Mitchell!
Bree Ryan and the Senior Girls had a great weekend winning gold at the Arcola Volleyball Tournament. The girls finished first in their pool and then went on to defeat Arcola in the final. Way to go!
Mrs. Beaver and the Rookie Boys are practicing Mondays and Wednesdays after school.
Mr. Birch and the Intermediate Girls continue to practice weekday evenings.
There will be no school on Friday, September 28th, 2012. It is a Professional Development Day for staff.
Mrs. Biberdorf and her Home Economics class would appreciate any used tape measures and scrap fabric for her classes. If you have any around your place and you would like to donate them to GFK please contact Mrs. Bieberdorf.
The school is looking for games to be used within the Workplace and Apprenticeship 10, 20, and 30 courses. They are to be used in outcomes within the courses to help develop spatial reasoning, numerical reasoning and logical reasoning. If you have any of the following games that your family has outgrown or is willing to donate to the school, we would really appreciate it. Just bring them in to the office! Games we are looking for are: Rubik's Cube, Blokus, chess, checkers, backgammon, Mastermind, Connect Four, Battleship, Cathedral World, Yahtzee, cribbage, Reverse. Thanks so much!
