Happy 2014
The first day of classes in 2014 is Monday, Jan. 6. The staff and students of GFK wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season!
The Student Leadership Team did a great job building school spirit throughout December. In the last week of school alone there was a Magic Carpet Race, a Last Man Standing Competition (Lane Newell won $50), a present unwrapping races, a cookie building competitions, and a Christmas Spirit Day. Mrs. Rutten and her team continue to do amazing things at GFK.
The Mosaic Meal (Potluck) was a huge success. Thank you to all of the families who contributed. The G.F. Kells students ended up bringing in 4300 items for the Food Bank this Christmas. Shelbey McNair was a huge part of this year's success. She is an amazing student with a big heart! Thanks to Mr. Johnson for all of his efforts with the Food Bank Drive and the Mosaic Meal. In the end, he did dye his hair partially blond. Thanks to everyone who donated to this important cause.
The senior and junior drama clubs have started up again this year. In April, Carlyle will be hosting the Regional Festival.
The curling teams continue to practise and play.
On the last Thursday of the month, students from the G.F. Kells High School will be out in the community for 2 hours after school (3:15-5:15). They will be volunteering their time to make our community a better, cleaner place. If you would like some extra help, we are here for you.
