The Twelve Days of Christmas was a big success for the Student Leadership Team. They kept students busy every lunch hour last week. Events included Door Decorating, a Pancake Breakfast, Cookie Decorating, Gift Unwrapping Races, and a "Last Man Standing Competition." The Mosaic Meal (Potluck) will again be held on the last day before the break, Dec. 21. Each student is asked to bring enough food for 5 - 6 people according to the grade's category (see below). The food is to be brought on Friday, Dec. 21, between 11:30 AM and 11:55 AM. Warming up the food at school is not possible, so please bring it ready to serve. The meal starts at noon. The categories are Grade 7, Chinese food; Grade 8, Mexican food; Grade 9, Italian food; Grade 10, Ukrainian food; Grade 11, appetizers; Grade 12, desserts. Students are also asked, if possible, to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the school's Food Bank Drive.

The Search Institute has identified the building blocks of healthy development that help young people grow up healthy, caring, and responsible. The Cougar Corner will list 2 of these 40 Developmental Assets each week for the next 20 weeks. One of these assets is ability with "Peaceful Conflict Resolution." This involves young people finding non-violent solutions to conflicts. Another asset is "Resistance Skills." These are skills to resist negative peer pressure.
