Semester 2 Report Cards will be going out the first week of February. Please look for them! There will be no school on Monday, January 28th, due to a teacher Professional Development Day. The first day of classes for Semester 2 is Tuesday, January 29.
The G.F. Kells Student Leadership Team organized Spirit Week last week. Students showed their school spirit by dressing up for Hat Day, PJ Day, Ugly Sweater Day, Tie Day, and Future Career Day.
Interested students from G.F. Kells will be heading to Asessippi Ski Resort on Friday, February 15, 2013.
Junior drama practices continue every Thursday after school from 3:30pm to 5:00pm from now until April. Senior drama practices are every Monday evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Curling practices are Tuesday and Thursday after school. Curling playoffs are coming up in February.
GFK curling teams are in full swing preparing for their SEDAA play downs. The Jr. SEDAA Curling playoff takes place on February 8th and 9th with the girls in Carnduff and 2 boys' teams competing in Maryfield. The Sr. Girls Curling Playoffs are held on February 12th and 13th in Oxbow. Good luck to all teams.

The Search Institute has identified the building blocks of healthy development that help young people grow up healthy, caring, and responsible. The Cougar Corner will list 2 of these 40 Developmental Assets each week for the next 20 weeks. One of these assets is "Homework." The Institute reports that for healthy development, young people do at least one hour of homework every school day. Another asset is "Bonding to School." Healthy young people care about their school.
