REGINA — Government House is inviting guests to experience the historic home of Saskatchewan’s Lieutenant Governor in a new spooky light, with a new set of supernatural tours in October.
The Victorian Supernatural Superstitions tours are open for booking, with dates available to the public on Oct. 21, 22 and 28. Beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m., guests can join a tour group leaving every 30 minutes at the museum.
"A festive event like this is the perfect opportunity for visitors to experience Government House this fall and learn about one of Regina's most historic, and ghostly, museums,” said manager Brie Hnetka.
The tours focus on superstitions popularly believed in the Victorian era, detailing some of the elaborate rituals people of that time created and performed.
Guests will be led through the museum space by the Brown sisters, to share their era-appropriate perspectives on the approaching the haunted and spooky.
Hnetka said that the tour is not recommended for young children, and parental guidance is suggested.
She also noted that the tour was popular and filled up quickly last year, and encouraged those interested to book their spots online sooner rather than later.
Government House is also hosting a Trick or Treat event for families in the afternoon on Oct. 30, from 1p.m. to 4 p.m.
Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty and Donna Mirasty will be handing out treats and telling spooky stories about the 130-year-old house that now serves as their office. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes, and registration is required.
