Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers at the North Portal border crossing seized an undeclared firearm late last month.
The CBSA reported on its Twitter feed on Oct. 5 that officers found a loaded, .40-calibre handgun in a Pennsylvania man’s truck on Sept. 26.
The undeclared firearm was seized, and the traveller was returned to the U.S. after paying a $1,000 penalty.
The CBSA noted in a previous tweet that 43 guns were seized at border crossings in the Prairie region this summer. Anyone visiting Canada is asked to declare their firearms before entering the country.
