Calling all fishing fanatics, it is time to get your fishing season started, grab all your gear; Alameda has something in store for you. It is time for the 16th annual Alameda fishing derby.

An entry fee of $75.00 per person fishing, or $35.00 for participants under the age of 12.

Alameda Fish Derby saw almost 290 participants register last year for their 15th annual event held at Moose Creek Regional Park, and expects to cap it off at 250 participants for the June 30, 2012 competition.

A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day of working!

The day starts early in the morning, serving a pancake breakfast for the morning birds at 6 a.m, followed by the official fishing beginning at 8 a.m. The early crowd will also be entered in the early bird draw for an Ipad generously donated by Mayco Well Servicing.

Fishermen and women will spend a fun-filled day on the lake, with the fishing extravaganza stopping around 4 p.m. to prepare for the 5 p.m. barbeque beef supper held at the Alameda Rink or to take some time relaxing in the beer gardens.

Extra BBQ beef supper tickets can be purchase for 10 dollars.

People of all ages are welcome to participate in the event with prizes provided to youth and adults.

This year's big prize is a 15'' youth bike sponsored by the Moose mountain wildlife federation.

A guaranteed total of $5,000 will be handed out in prizes.
