The Weyburn Housing Authority Board of Directors hosted a special event to honour one of its members for long service. John Lawrence has served as a volunteer for fifteen years and will continue on the board in his position as Chairperson.

Lawrence received a Certificate of Recognition from the Province of Saskatchewan and a Long-Service Lapel Pin from the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation in recognition of her years of service.

Board members and friends were on hand to congratulate him. The Housing Authority participates in a network of 271 housing authorities throughout Saskatchewan that are responsible for the management of social and affordable housing for seniors, families and persons with disabilities who are in need of suitable accommodation. Weyburn board members are representative of many Saskatchewan residents who invest in their communities with personal time and effort, and the success of Saskatchewan's social housing programs is due in large part to their dedication. In the words of author, Shirley Chisholm, "Service is the rent you pay for time on this earth."

The Weyburn Housing Authority Board of Directors is responsible for 319 housing units within their community. Present members of the Board of Directors are Don Shumlich, Rochelle Wendt, Myron Fletcher, Shelley Hoium and M. Peggy York. John Lawrence serves as Chairperson and Pam Kwochka is the Housing Authority Manager.
