Johnson most dedicated councillor

Brian Johnson is arguably the most verbose member of Estevan city council. However what isn't up for debate is the fact Johnson is council's most punctual member.

Brian Johnson is arguably the most verbose member of Estevan city council. However what isn't up for debate is the fact Johnson is council's most punctual member.

According to statistics provided by the City of Estevan, the veteran councillor missed just one meeting in 2010.
In a year where overall council attendance was very strong, Johnson missed one open meeting July 12. He did not miss any committee meetings or special meetings.

Mayor Gary St. Onge and councillors Roy Ludwig and Dennis Moore also spent a significant portion of their time in chambers, missing just two meetings. Rookie Councillor was right behind the trio with just three absences.

Councillor Lynn Chipley missed four meetings in 2010, three of them due to vacation. Rod Beatty, who like Moore and Istace was elected to a first term on council in 2009, had the most absences with 10. However, four of Beatty's absences were due to illness.

Although the City has released attendance statistics in the past, the more detailed list provided to the media this year was one of the recommendations of the council remuneration committee. The four person committee held a number of meetings early in 2010 and field a report with council that called for a significant raise for the mayor and smaller increase for the six councillors.
