Lake Alma couple watch son in Queen City Marathon

Lake Alma (cpd) - Wayne and Dolores Hagen were in Regina on Sept. 8 to watch the Queen City Marathon. Their son, Jared Hagen of Regina ran the half marathon (21.1 kilometres). He crossed the finish line in just one hour, 19 minutes and 43 seconds.

He crossed the finish line in just one hour, 19 minutes and 43 seconds. Just two others completed the half marathon run before Jared.

Clare and Ida Offet joined her sister Marie Jacobson of Regina, on the Moose Mountain Bus from Regina on Sept. 9 to 11 to Sky Dancer at Belcourt, North Dakota. They reported a very enjoyable time.

Clare and Ida Offet went to Regina on Sept. 7 and attended the 75th birthday party for her sister, Marie Jacobson, at the home of her son Kevin Jacobson and Diane Glenny in Regina. The afternoon started with visiting and socializing in their backyard and then a barbecue.

Also attending was Jeanette Whitteron of Weyburn, Gwen and Wes Jacobson and Steven of Lumsden, Craig and Charmaine Offet and Courtney, and Eli, Rachel Brown, Darcie Bell and Marie's husband Donald Jacobson of Regina and Suzanne Brown of Rocanville. The Offets were overnighters with their son, Craig and Charmaine and returned to Weyburn on Sept. 8.

Larry and Eleanor Skjerdal and Roy and Myrna Lohse of Beaubier were in Weyburn on Sept. 8 to help Karen Barsness celebrate her 65th birthday.

Also attending the celebration were Karen's children Barry and Connie Barsness and family, Jeff and Carolyn Barsness and family and Cari and Darren Halberg and family, Karen's mother Delores and Duane Larsen, Beverly Locken, Allan and Linda Toszak, Clare and Ida Offet, and Marvin Eddy and Betty.

Karen Skjerdal from California and two friends from Bienfait spent the afternoon of Aug. 7 visiting with Larry and Eleanor Skjerdal at Beaubier and then they went over to Elwood and Betty Skjerdal's for a visit and to view their beautiful yard and garden.

They also went to the Haakon Skjerdal farm where pictures were taken. Karen also visited with Orville and Lou Vonne Skjerdal in Moose Jaw while she was in Saskatchewan.

Harvest is in full swing and the weather has cooperated, which has made farmers happy. Some have had small breakdowns and others had major breakdowns, but they always seem to cope with the situation.

Ken Johnson of Lake Alma and Dale Petersen of Weyburn have been helping Ron Herlick at Tribune with his harvest.

A come and go tea is planned for Clare Offet's 80th birthday at #101-1808 Eaglesham Avenue in Weyburn on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 2-4 p.m. No gifts required.
