Latest death in Wascana Lake accidental, say Regina police

REGINA - Regina police and the coroner's office have ruled the death of an 46-year-old individual at Wascana Lake last week to be accidental.

That was the determination following an investigation into the death by police and the coroner's office.

The incident happened on Friday night. Police report that at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3 Regina Police and Regina Fire and Protective Services were dispatched to the north side of Wascana Lake for an unresponsive male in the water.

He was located by Regina Fire and Protective Services and brought to shore. Despite attempts to revive the victim, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The death on Friday night took place on the same day that a jury was rendering its decision in an inquest into the death of Samwel Uko at Wascana Lake on May 21, 2020. The jury ruled the death had been caused by drowning.
