The second Annual Flyin' High at the Eagle Showdown is being held on Saturday, Sept. 29. Presented by Eagle Motor Sports and Joey Galloway Racing it is sure to be a day of non-stop action. Practice will be held in the evening on Sept. 28 between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., while action on Saturday starts at 12:30 p.m. with hot laps and the races will get underway at 1 p.m.

Located one mile west of Manor, just off of Highway 13, the racing extravaganza will be held. There will be three different classes racing throughout the day including hobby stocks, street stocks, and modifieds. A regular pit pass will be $20 and admission to the stands $10, while children 12 and under enter for free.

"Last year we mostly had modifieds, they're the more technical cars, but we did have street stock and hobby stock entries as well as a few sprint cars last year. We're hoping to have a good turn out again," Derrick Big Eagle, one of the event organizers stated.

The cars will take to a dirt racing track of mile. The track is used for personal coaching, as well as research and development of modifieds.

"It's something I can do to give back to the community. I've been working with the fire department lately and the proceeds from this event will be given to the Manor Fire Department," Big Eagle said.

"It's just something different. In southeast Saskatchewan there are lots of jobs and people work like crazy, but need something to do for entertainment. Everyone works hard in the area and this helps get everybody out. Harvest is wrapping up, it's the tail end of the nicer weather, and just a good way to enjoy some time off," Big Eagle explained.

Offered this year will be two-seater rides in the vehicles again. For someadded excitement people will be able to pay for a ride and be taken out onto the course during a race.

"They'll pay their fees, jump in a car, and spin a few laps during a race. They'll get to feel what it's like to go 70 miles an hour with cars turning sideways beside you and the adrenaline rush that goes with it," said Big Eagle

Following the races a car show will be held. The idea came from having seen more hotrods and old cars on the roads, since the highways have been fixed.

"It's a great project for families to work on and do. This is just a way to let them show off their hard work," Big Eagle explained.

The car show will be held between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Big Eagle ranch, near the dirt track. The show and shine will have a prize for people's choice and is free to enter.

Supper will also be offered during this time by Rylan and Cindy Weir at $15 a plate. The food will be plentiful and delicious, so don't miss out.

The day will be capped off with a cabaret held in the shop running from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. Big Eagle has arranged for a Regina based band, Third Degree Birnz, to play for the evening. Third Degree Birnz is a band able to play all types of music and has been described as "Western Canada's Ultimate Party Band." It will be $10 to enter and those partaking must be of age.

"It's going to be a bit of a motorhead day I guess, but will be a good time for everyone," Big Eagle explained.

Camping spots are available, there is no power or sewer hook up, but an area to park for the night will be perfect for sleeping after the cabaret. For more information call 1-306-577-7848 or 1-306-421-7225.

Hoping to raise funds for the fire department and give back to his community, while encouraging everyone to enjoy a little bit of leisure time, Eagle Motorsports and Joey Galloway Racing is sure to bring great entertainment to the area.
