Library to launch sci-fi book club

The Weyburn Public Library will launch their first meeting of a new science fiction book club tonight, Aug. 25, starting at 7 p.m.

The Weyburn Public Library will launch their first meeting of a new science fiction book club tonight, Aug. 25, starting at 7 p.m.The club, called The Space Time Continuum, will be looking at the science-fiction classic Dune by Frank Herbert; this series of books has won both the Hugo and Nebula awards for science fiction writing.Copies of the first book have been set aside at the front desk for pickup by anyone interested in reading it and taking part in the book club.The library will then feature Robin and Arlene Karpan on Saturday, Aug. 28, with a two-part presentation.At 9 a.m., their workshop will focus on self-publication, aimed at aspiring writers. The second presentation will be at 3:30 p.m., and will be about their new book, Saskatchewan Wild, which will include still photos from their collection.The Armchair Travels club will continue on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m., focussing on travels to the United Kingdom.
