The lights of the Weyburn Inland Terminal and from the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, are reflected on the still waters of the Souris River late on Oct. 1. The Northern Lights were particularly bright on this evening, covering much of the night sky. The phenomenon is caused when charged particles from a solar flare come through Earth's upper atmosphere, providing a light show for residents below.
